The Psychobiology

Major Requirements

The interdisciplinary major in Psychobiology aims to combine the best of the two primary home disciplines: Psychology, and Biology. Thus, the major requirements include a variety of courses from both of these disciplines, in addition to some statistics and chemistry. All Psychobiology majors must take the core set of courses listed below.

Note: as of academic year 2008-2009, the Biology department is changing the way in which it offers Vertebrate Anatomy and Evolution. Thus, if you are a Psychobiology major who has not yet completed a course in the cluster that currently includes this course, you will not be able to meet that cluster requirement with BIO 255. Instead and until further notice, you may meet the requirement for that cluster with either BIO 244, or any other 200-level biology course with a lab.

You can download a checklist of these requirements for your own use by clicking here. Specifics about the capstone requirement can be found here.

(Students with interests in the health professions are encouraged to consult a pre-health advisor (contact the Advising Office in the Kollett Center) early in their Wheaton career.)
