Build Your Own Brain |
In class, we have been learning about neuroanatomy and parts of the brain. For this assignment, you are asked to put together what you have learned in a model of the brain. You may model the brain however you see fit. However, your model must be portable (i.e., you have to be able to bring it to class), of your own design, it must be anatomically correct (that is, it must accurately depict the relative size and location of different brain areas), and must show the location of the following structures:
You may use whatever materials you prefer. For example, you could draw the brain using pencils, colored pencils, or crayon. Or you could make a model brain using construction paper. You may prefer to use air-dry clay that you can later paint or label. Be creative! Pipe cleaners, ribbon, found objects such as sticks, leaves, recycling products--anything that is safe, portable, and will allow you to model the brain and the structures indicated above is fair game. No brain model may be larger than what would fit in an average shoebox. Be sure your brain model has some way for you to attach your name to it, so you can receive credit for your work! |

Start collecting
materials you might use for your model as soon as you can. Then bring
them to class on the day indicated on the syllabus. Be sure to bring any
additional materials you might need, such as glue or tape. I'll try to
bring some of these materials, but since we have a very large class, you
should bring your own just in case. |
